Improvisation

Stephen Leek has a long history of Free Improvisation that stems back before his work performance in Dance Education in the early 80’s. He has led such innovative groups as vOiCeArT as well as been a freelance artist in this area.

Free Improvisation is listening and working in sound, free from any stylist boundaries and constraints. Free Improvisation workshops connect sound with energy, with motion, with the body, with the voice, with movement, to create a holistic vehicle for the musical composition process.

Workshops with Stephen Leek are physical, stimulating, engaging, often challenging, but always accessible and fun to all ages, skills levels and types of people. Although Leek has maintained a hectic schedule of these type of workshops around Australia and overseas for the past 25 years, he has been teaching Free Improvisation to undergraduate university students at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, in Brisbane Australia, for the past 12 years.

Please contact Stephen on stephen_leek@hotmail.com for more details or to arrange sessions with your group. These sessions can be a valuable team building exercise for musicians and non-musicians alike.
